Instead of buying store-bought ranch dressing, make your own dressing with this super fast and easy recipe. Use it as a salad dressing, or for dipping low carb veggies in.

All of the ingredients for this low-carb ranch sauce can be found at your local grocery store. Each serving has 0.6 g net carbs.

Recipe ingredient substitutions

*Keep in mind, if you use fresh herbs, chives, garlic or onion, the ranch sauce will not last as long in the fridge.*

Store-bought mayonnaise substitutions: instead of using store-bought mayonnaise, you can also make your own olive oil mayonnaise.

Dried parsley and dill substitutions: instead of using dried herbs, swap it out for fresh herbs.

Dried chive substitutions: instead of dehydrated chives, swap it out for diced up fresh chives.

Onion and garlic powder substitutions: instead of using the powdered forms, you can swap it out for fresh garlic or onions (diced up shallot, white onion, or red onion).

White vinegar substitutions: swap it out for fresh squeezed lemon juice, or other vinegars such as apple cider vinegar, rice vinegar, or white wine vinegar.

Recipe variations

Make your own mayonnaise: if you prefer to make everything from scratch, you can make your own mayonnaise. You can use olive oil, avocado oil, vegetable oil, or canola oil.

Make it with dairy: instead of regular mayo, swap it out (in part or fully) for sour cream or yogurt.

Dietary modifications

Make this recipe low FODMAP: omit the garlic and onion powder. Check the ingredients on your mayonnaise to see whether it contains any garlic or onion. Consider making your own homemade mayo from scratch.

Make this recipe vegan: swap out the regular mayonnaise for vegan mayonnaise.

Recipe pairings

This homemade ranch sauce works really well as a veggie dip, on buffalo wings, on a keto salad, keto pizza, on top of meat, and in a lettuce wrap.

Storage tips

Store your homemade ranch dressing in an airtight container or Mason jar with a lid. Keep it in the fridge, and eat it within 1 – 2 weeks.
